The inn is charming and the room we stayed in was quite nice. It was very quiet at night and the staff were lovely. The food was quite nice as well.

While it was nice to have free wifi, it was quite slow.

It has a very welcoming, homely and comfortable ambience, is in a quiet location but with good communication links. Our room was generous in size and comfortably furnished. The en suite bathroom was also generously sized with large roll-top bath and shower over. The full English breakfasts were excellent, cooked to order, of generous portions and served HOT (unlike so many other establishments' offerings). Bar and restaurant food was also of a high standard and is known to have a good reputation in the local community. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. This is a little gem in the North Wiltshire countryside. We were pleased with the room rate obtained through Booked.net

Room was nicely furnished, cosy and relaxing. Young blond lady, standing in for the manager during our first nights stay was very pleasant and courteous. She showed genuine concern that we had a nice stay and was a real credit.

Room 2 was over the bar area and was noisy at times. If it was really busy it would be a problem if you like peace and quiet, like we do. Food is in our opinion over priced for the qualty you actually receive. We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our stay and our last night was very disappointing. We sent both main course meals back (under cooked and odd taste) and didnt want to chance our luck again particulary as it was past 9.00pm when serving stops, so opted for cold 2 starter dishes instead. Other than the food, a nice place to stay but try to get a room away from the bar area if you want peace & quiet !

peaceful, quiet, non-smoking, away from it all countryside.

The Hotel was full of character with many original features. Plenty of car parking. Room was clean. Bed comfortable and clean. Soft White towels in bathroom. Breakfast on the first morning was amazing - served very hot and delicious (not on second morning unfortunately). Good value for money but the staff need to be more cheerful!

On arrival, staff could have been friendlier. The Hotel Manager didn't really make an effort to interact with us in conversation. Staff need to smile more!! The Hotel downstairs was lovely but when going upstairs, it appeared tired. Our room was ok, though carpet in the bathroom not nice and paint peeling off above the bath. Our room was quite noisy (at the front) as the road in front is busy (lots of petrol tankers going by!!). Also when smokers are just outside the front door, the smoke travels up through the windows. We were kept awake by people chatting outside the front door (midnight). The breakfast on the second day was not as good as the first (as Hotel Manager off that day). Appearance of breakfast not as good and sausage cold in the middle.

Great location with very helpful staff. The food was excellent and all in all we had a good stay. Eric Beadel

The bathroom left a lot to be desired! The bath and shower were just not up to the task. The victorian bath was very steep and the shower inadequate. Separate shower would have been better and it certainly needed a rubber mat in the bath. I actually slipped on the steep curve at the bottom of the bath and pulled the shower bracket off the wall.

Extremely nice and kind staff. The hotel is in the middle of the green but near to the road, beautuful place. Excellent breakfast, porridge was excellent. The room is very nice, I really liked the windows. Even the details with bathroom facilities was of good quality.

The dinner was a normal dinner(for Italian standard) and it was too expensive for the quality offered. My husband was not glad with the bed as he said it provided him backache because of the type of non comfortable mattress. I did not find any problem.

As an Australian I really loved the old world atmosphere of the inn - our room was charming with a window seat overlooking the front of the hotel with a very rural outlook - we had dinner in the dining room with low beams and beautiful food
